History and Milestones
1973
Haycarb is incorporated, and the first manufacturing facility opens in Madampe with a production capacity of 700 MT per annum.

1975
Listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange, marking a major step in corporate growth.

1977
First export of activated carbon to Nevada, USA, establishing Haycarb’s global presence.
1984
Establishment of Haycarb USA, initially as Sorbtech, marking the first overseas investment. Later rebranded as Haycarb USA Inc.

1986
Expansion into the UK and Australia with the incorporation of Eurocarb Products Ltd. and Haycarb Holdings Australia.

1990
Strengthens position as a manufacturer of high-quality activated carbon by introducing value-added products like pelletized, impregnated, and ultra-fine powdered carbons.
1993
First overseas manufacturing facility established in Thailand through investment in Carbokarn Co. Ltd.
1995
Formation of Puritas (Pvt) Ltd., expanding into water and wastewater treatment solutions.

1996
Acquisition of the Badalgama manufacturing facility in Sri Lanka to scale up production.

2002
Entry into the spent carbon regeneration business in Thailand through CK Regen Systems.
2003
Development of green charcoaling technology with Recogen (Pvt) Ltd., later accredited for carbon credits under the UN Kyoto Protocol.

2005
First manufacturing plant established in Indonesia, PT Mapalus Makawanua Charcoal Industry.

2010
Entry into energy storage carbon manufacturing with the launch of EDLC carbon products through Ultracarb (Pvt) Ltd.

2012
Sri Lanka’s first Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) wastewater treatment project launched with Veolia India.
Expansion in Thailand with investment in Shizuka.

2013
Innovation of oil-free activation technology, setting new industry standards.
2014
Expanded regional water treatment solutions with the first island infrastructure project in the Maldives.
Established PT Haycarb Palu Mitra, second manufacturing facility in Indonesia.
Launched Puritas Sath Diyawara to provide clean water to affected communities in Sri Lanka.
2015
‘Puritas Sath Diyawara’ recognized as Asia’s leading SME CSR project at the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards
2016
