Haycarb PLC has marked a significant milestone in its innovation and growth journey with the opening of its high-capacity energy carbon manufacturing facility (HCEC), reinforcing the Company’s strategic evolution beyond traditional activated carbon and strengthening its position in high-value global markets for advanced carbon materials and 에너지 솔루션.
The new facility supports Haycarb’s ambition to emerge as a trusted energy storage carbon material supplier, capable of delivering consistent, high-quality solutions to global energy storage and battery manufacturers.
Responding to the Global Shift in Energy Storage
The global transition toward electric mobility, renewable energy integration, and grid-scale energy storage is driving unprecedented demand for advanced energy storage technologies. Electric vehicles (EVs), renewable power systems, and grid stabilization solutions increasingly rely on lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors, and hybrid energy storage systems, each requiring high-performance carbon for energy storage engineered to deliver reliability, efficiency, and long operational life.
These developments are accelerating demand for carbon materials for electric vehicle batteries, grid-scale energy storage materials, and materials for renewable energy systems, all of which play a critical role in enabling the global energy transition.
Recognizing these shifts in global energy markets, Haycarb has made targeted investments to expand its technical capabilities and manufacturing infrastructure. The new HCEC facility represents a pivotal step in this journey, enabling the company to support emerging applications across the energy storage value chain and advance its ambition to become a trusted global supplier of advanced carbon solutions.
Opening Ceremony Highlights

Haycarb officially inaugurated the Energy Storage Carbon Manufacturing Facility in Badalgama in the presence of senior leadership from Hayleys PLC and Haycarb PLC, along with Directors and members of the Group Management Committee. The strong leadership presence accentuated the strategic importance of the facility within the Group’s long-term growth roadmap.
This milestone expands Haycarb’s capacity in battery-grade 활성탄 manufacturing, building on an innovation journey that began with electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC) carbons in 2010 and now extends to next-generation energy storage materials engineered for advanced battery applications.
Strategic Significance of the HCEC Facility

The HCEC facility strengthens Haycarb’s energy storage portfolio by enabling high-purity carbon material production, including EDLC carbons for Super Capacitors (HCE 200 series) and a new generation of actvated carbons (HCE 400 series) for silicon–carbon composite anode materials used in Li-ion battery anodes. These solutions address key performance challenges faced by modern batteries, including durability, consistency, and efficiency.
With scalable manufacturing processes and tightly controlled quality parameters, the facility enhances Haycarb’ s ability to deliver consistent performance at commercial scale across international markets. It is fully integrated with Haycarb’s broader R&D and manufacturing ecosystem, including the recently commissioned electrochemical laboratory. This integration enables close collaboration between research, process development, and production teams, accelerating innovation-led energy materials manufacturing and enabling faster translation of laboratory-scale developments into market-ready solutions.
“The Haycarb Energy Storage Carbon manufacturing facility marks a decisive step in vastly expanding Haycarb’s capacity and capabilities in advanced energy carbon materials. Our focus is on converting in-house scientific research into commercially scalable solutions that can support the next generation of energy storage technologies globally.”
