Haycarb Sudaha Hamuwa - 2014

‘Suhada Hamuwa’ - The annual get together of Haycarb was held on 9th August 2014 at Eagle’s Lakeside, Attidiya. The event saw over 1250 participants, which included Haycarb employees and their families from Madampe, Badalgama and Recogen Factories, Wewelduwa Transit Stores, Puritas, Haycarb Head Office.

Mr. Mohan Pandithage, Chairman and CEO of Hayleys Group, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, whilst several invitees from Hayleys Group and the Head of Marketing Haycarb USA, Mr. Neal Megonnell also participated in this event. Mr. Mohan Pandithage took the lead in lighting the traditional oil lamp in commencing the event. Mr. Rajitha Kariyawasan, Managing Director of Haycarb PLC extended a warm welcome to the gathering with a brief speech.

Twenty-four employees of the group were felicitated with Long Service Awards in appreciation of their service to the company during the event. Of those felicitated, 21 completed 15 years of service, where as 2 completed their 25th year with Haycarb. A special mention needs to be made of Mr. Srini Fernando, Senior Executive who celebrated his 35th year at Haycarb this year.

It was a fun-filled evening for the employees and their families.  Kiddie bouncers were available for the children along with gifts and snack packs to enjoy. The event included a spot competition, and a raffle draw. A gala buffet was arranged for the attendees and the band ‘Heat’ provided the music to dance the night away. It was a memorable night for all at Haycarb.

Pride in our achievement

Haycarb Group reached a key milestone by exceeding the Rupees 1 billion profit after tax during the financial year 2012/13. The Group’s revenue was Rs. 10,161 million for the year, whilst recording Rs. 1,217 million and Rs. 1,026 million as profit before and after tax respectively. This signifies a 19% growth in revenue and an 85% growth in profit, a record performance milestone for Haycarb Group.

The Group launched its growth plan (RPM 2X) in 2012/13 to double its top and bottom line within 5 years, with well documented strategies for enhancing its marketing, supply chain and business infrastructure. Overall market expansions in both new markets and new applications, new projects of Energy Storage carbons (Ultracarb), other value added carbons (HayVAP), acquisition of Shizuka in Thailand and establishing its first overseas green field plant Haycarb Palu Mitra are key milestones of this strategy. Simultaneously, the business expansion of Puritas to become a larger player in water purification systems takes momentum with the assistance of strong strategic alliances. The expansion of existing marketing subsidiaries and launch of new marketing units and distributorships are year marked. The leadership development and acquisition of specific application, market and technical knowledge and know how remains pivotal building a solid foundation for growth in achieving this milestone.

In celebration of this success, a gala dinner was held on 15^th May with a ‘Peacock’ theme, which was chosen to signify the pride of this milestone achievement. The entire decoration for the night was in designs and colours of the peacock, everyone was dressed in peacock blue or green to reflect the theme.

Chairman and CEO of Hayleys Group, Mr. Pandithage graced the occasion as the guest of honour. Mr. Kariyawasan, Managing Director of Haycarb Group, commenced the event addressing the Haycarb Group of Employees with a note of special appreciation, highlighting the key milestones of strategy and its achievements. Mr. Pandithage followed with a congratulatory note addressing the gathering. A plaque was presented to Mr. Rajitha Kariyawasan by the Chairman behalf of Haycarb Group of Employees, honouring his leadership in achieving this success, and in turn Mr. Kariyawasan presented a plaque to Mr. Pandithage, in appreciation of his unwavering support and encouragement given to the Haycarb Group.

The gathering was entertained by the Budawatte dance troupe with their elaborate performances and the party went on to late hours dancing to the tunes of Heat in a packed dance floor. It was a night to remember for everyone of Haycarb family. The journey of RPM 2X has begun…

Haycarb Badalgama Art Competition

Haycarb Badalgama Art Competition was held on 1st November at Badalgama Saranathissa Junior School. 3 employees along with 34 children of the group employees between 3 to 15 years participated in the event. All participants were provided with paper and colorings materials for their paintings and drawings. Children and their parents were provided with refreshments during the event.

Valuable gifts were awarded to the winners from employee and child categories. 3 winners each from 3 different age groups of children were chosen. Awards were distributed by senior employees of the Badalgama factory.

A street drama was staged at the location for the entertainment of the gathering.
