Haycarb PUREGREEN range of premium Activated Carbons utilizes charcoal originating from coconut shell, a renewable raw material, produced by a pollution free and carbon neutral process using ground breaking, patented technology.  The waste pollutive gasses and heat generated during the charcoaling process is used to generate electrical power that is supplied to the national grid under a renewable power generation scheme.

This charcoal is converted to activated carbon in a production process that generate all  the steam and a substantial percentage of the electricity required, through the utilization of waste heat and gasses released from the same process. In addition, this process utilizes renewable bio mass as a source of energy, eliminating the need to use fossil fuels at many high energy consumption points along the line.

The charcoaling process is undertaken by a wholly owned subsidiary, Recogen Limited. At its full capacity this process will abate the release to the atmosphere of 890 tons per annum of Methane gas (otherwise released during traditional charcoaling) equivalent to 18,700 tons of carbon dioxide per annum, while the substitution of fossil fuel based power generation by this renewable process prevents a further 32,000 tons per annum of carbon dioxide that would not have been carbon-neutral, from being released into the atmosphere.

In the final analysis, the abatement of Greenhouse Gas emission is approximately eight (08) tons for every ton of Activated Carbon produced using this green process. This claim makes the Haycarb PUREGREEN range of carbon the greenest carbon available in the market.
